House Passes Clean Energy Legislation
Last evening the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee approved the American Clean Energy and Security Act by a 33 to 25 bipartisan vote.
This legislation would establish a new U.S. energy policy that avoids continuing dependence on foreign oil and builds a new, domestic clean technology manufacturing base to supply wind, solar, and other renewable energy. It will also take significant steps toward combating the climate crisis by limiting carbon pollution.
When the people lead, leaders will follow. In a new poll by National Wildlife Federation, Americans strongly support legislative proposals that invest in clean energy and cap global warming pollution. We’ve demonstrated that by working together we can make a huge difference in the outcome of this historic effort.

Cap-and-trade is good but in the long run not enough of course.
We need to stop polluting, period.
Americans are used to long-held habits which are hard to change, until new non-polluting infrastructures are put in place.
Cheap and available electric cars, and massive investments in public transportation would help. Construction of city areas where you can walk to work would help immensely.
Good paying jobs in environmental cleanup and production would create the opportunity sense that Americans look for. And if some of those jobs are devoted to eliminating pollution in smokestack industries and utilities, so much the better. And so forth...
Americans would never allow pollution if they could see it entering their homes and schools. The problem is that, visible air pollution in cities notwithstanding, too many cannot see it. We need advertising that displays pollution as a worldwide disaster in Katrina-like terms and visions.

NWF has sadly departed from its primary mission to benefit wildlife. It has deviated away from reality with many other pseudo environmental groups, seemingly to profit from the sky is falling hysteria called global warming, which if it does exist beyond the normal and natural cycling of climate, would be significantly more beneficial for plant and animal life. NWF needs to return to its roots and promote positions and actions that will actually foster wildlife.

With the current science it's important to know that global warming is the biggest threat to wildlife. We all hope to save species but without curbing our emissions, we will most certainly lose the species we aim to protect. As you know, it's about way more than saving the wolves, it's about saving the ecosystem so the wolves can live. NWF has picked it's priorities right in combating an issue putting all wildlife at risk.
