Courageous Kansas Governor Takes a Stand
Kudos to the leadership of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius for her courageous stand on Friday to veto the state’s forced approval of two coal fired power plants. The Governor’s Secretary of Health and the Environment withheld approval for the plants because of the health impacts of the large amount of greenhouse gases that the plants would have produced. The Governor also acknowledged that greenhouse gases impact future generations and that reducing these gases will benefit generations of Kansans to come.

I feel like a "Voice in the Wilderness" here in West TN. I moved here 9 years ago from a Chicago suburb that had won awards for a model recyling program. Here, in Jackson, TN, which calls itself the "Hub" city, a recycling program fizzled out because of lack of interest. Actually, it was a lack of a good plan.
I do as much as possible for a single, nearly 85 year old female. Most light bulbs are flourescent, lights and water are conserved, I provide the wildlife with habitat (have 3 acres of woods) and just bought a Prius so I could continue to drive to a suburb of Memphis with my recycling stuff.
There seems to be no way to raise awareness of the people
here to DO something...they simply agree with you when you speak about it and continue to pray.
What else can I do? HELP!
