America Wants a Clean Energy Future
America’s voters have delivered a clear message that the newly elected Congress must set the nation on a path to a clean energy future to address the joined priorities of national security and climate security. Energy independence in the form of a clean energy future is the common denominator linking concern about American military commitments in the Middle East, domestic job insecurity and the looming threat of global warming. A clean energy future means breaking America’s addiction to foreign oil. It means creating a new generation of jobs developing the technologies and alternatives for cheaper, cleaner and safer energy supplies. And it means using the engine of free market innovation to confront global warming by steering the economy away from fossil fuels.
The new Congress should take this charge on as a top priority. We need policies to create incentives for innovation. We need legislation to cap U.S. global warming pollution by sending market signals that it’s cheaper to reduce the use of fossil fuels than it is to continue business as usual.

This comment is so right. Heath Shuler, a conservative Democrat and winner in North Carolina's 11th District spoke passionately about the environement and livable wages in his interviews after the race was decided. Things are looking up for wild places and things.

That's odd. I click on your homepage -- "America Wants a Clean Energy Future," and it takes me to "Why Have I Created This Blog." Your blog then goes on to discuss the recent election, which is what I was looking for. But there's a disconnect between the title of the link and the title of the destination.
It can easily be corrected -- just change the headline of your blog. Maybe something like "Global Warming Update by Larry Schweiger."
Actually, you should change the headline of your blog for another reason, too. I know this wasn't your intention, but to lead off your discussion about the global threat of climate change with the words "Why Have I Created this Blog" seems a little egocentric. After all, this isn't about you and your blog or even NWF. It's about changing the outlook for our whole planet.
Otherwise, keep up the good work. Ranger Rick rocks.

Dan Berggren (www.berggrenfolk.com) an Adirondack singer/songwriter, has written a magnificent song about this crucial issue. Called "Power From Above," it appears on his new CD, "Fresh Territory," and is worth a listen. His premise is that, by making one small change in our lives, we can make a huge change in the quality of life on our planet. I strongly recommend you listen to the song. It is currently receiving airplay in many places in the U.S. and abroad. Music can be a very, very powerful tool for getting the word out and making sorely needed social changes.
