Iowa's Coal-Fired Plants Are Biggest Emitters

Nine of the 10 top emitters of heat-trapping gases that fuel climate change in Iowa are coal-fired power plants, the state's first plant-by-plant inventory of greenhouse gas emissions shows.The inventory, ordered by lawmakers and released this month, includes actual emissions of major businesses, manufacturers and power plants as measured by Iowa's Department of Natural Resources.
